One Monday morning, a diligent bank employee decides to break his humdrum daily routine in an attempt to reconnect with his inner child.

Alois Kessel is hardworking and precise in his work. Until one Monday, on his way to the office, he feels a desire to break free from established routine, so he drives to the nearest toy store and tries to rediscover his lost childhood. Meanwhile, his colleagues think he has lost his mind and demand a medical evaluation of his mental state.

"Comencini's most forgotten film: while never released in Italy, the German production opened the 1959 Berlin Film Festival, whose critics praised its complex production design, unusual for a comedy. Based on a comedy by J.B. Priestley set in an English town, the film places it 'in the context of the economic boom that West Germany, similarly to Italy, experienced at the end of the 1950s.'" About director
An Italian director (1916-2007) considered one of the leading figures of "commedia all'italiana". Over his career, he directed more than forty films, including Pane, amore e fantasia, for which he won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1954, and Tutti a casa, which received the top prize at the Moscow Film Festival in 1961.
