Najbolj osamljen človek v mestu
Tizza Covi, Rainer Frimmel · Austria, 2026 · 86 min
A quiet story highlighting the consequences of modern urbanisation. When a ruthless property company targets his home for demolition, an elderly man who has devoted his life to the blues and Elvis Presley is forced to confront the ruins of his past. Alois Koch is the last remaining tenant in an old townhouse in the heart of Vienna, recently acquired by a large corporation intent on demolishing it and replacing it with modern apartments. It is clear that sooner or later he will have to leave, but he remains deeply attached to the house and the many memories it holds - including his basement music studio. Meanwhile, real estate speculators are making it increasingly difficult for him to continue living there, gradually forcing him to give in. Perhaps the time has come for Alois to finally embark on the journey he has long dreamed of - to the United States and the Mississippi Delta.
"What's beautiful is that the film is not a dossier on 'missed success' but an exploration of grief, loss and aging carried by a man who, in real life, loves to talk and has even written a 700-page autobiography. / ... / We were trying to build images that felt like physical memories in a story obsessed with objects like Elvis busts, tapes, vinyl, a cellar thick with things that testify to a life. Watching Al slowly give pieces of that collection away was painful precisely because the emotions are not acted." (Tizza Covi, Rainer Frimmel)
