Kosara Mitić · North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, 2026 · 105 min
A brutally honest and unflinching debut film by North Macedonian director Kosara Mitić about the turbulent years of adolescence. Seventeen-year-old Sara is hiding a secret during a school trip. The students pile onto the bus, shouting, singing, drinking, challenging their teachers and trading looks and comments. Sara mostly watches in silence. When the trip spirals out of control and she witnesses her friend Lina being sexually assaulted, the two girls try to break the cycle of routine violence. This forges an unbreakable bond between them. When the bus stops at the Greek border the following day, Sara faces a major dilemma.
"Adolescence is where we learn silence. Teenagers experience violence for the first time at that stage. Everyone tells them not to make a big deal out of it. Setting this story in adolescence means that the cost of that silence is even bigger. What's interesting in Macedonia - and everywhere else, I believe - is that violence is very casual. It's very collective, and it's unspoken. That was important for me because I wanted to show how violence affects young women especially. That's how violence exists in the lives of young women: without consequences, without language. It's very normalised and very casual." (Kosara Mitić)
