A stylised technothriller about a neuroscientist seeking to uncover the mystery of an occult device that reproduces images from any point in history. In her research into the philosophy and neuroscience of memory, the reclusive academic Béatrice comes across the writings of a Benedictine monk who claimed in the 1950s to have witnessed the crucifixion of Christ through a device that had visually captured and could relay any moment in history through a television set. The story caused a scandal, not least with the Vatican, and Béatrice becomes obsessed with this puzzling phenomenon, applying her meticulous research skills to delve deeper into the realms of the possible - potentially putting her own scholarly standing at risk.
"We had been talking in vague terms about something feature-length we wanted to write. We are both wannabe academics, so that's very attractive: We love whenever there's a late night scene in the library involving research, even in films that are not really about that. So, there was that vague idea of a film centring around an academic, happening in parallel with the separate obsession with the device, then two ideas became one." (Jack Auen)
