Seks in smrt v najstniškem taboru
Jane Schoenbrun · USA, Canada, 2026 · 105 min
A loving tribute to classic horror films and VHS culture, featuring a standout performance by Gillian Anderson as a television diva. Camp Miazma is a horror film franchise that has seen numerous highs and lows since the 1970s. Film buffs have been treated to so many sequels and remakes that the series has completely run its course. The time has come for a fresh start. A queer filmmaker is hired to direct a new instalment, giving the long-running franchise a new lease of life. The director becomes fixated on casting Billy Presley, the actress who played the final girl in the original film. The reclusive actress has withdrawn from the public eye and has not performed since. The filmmaker tracks her down in the countryside. As they begin working together, the two women descend into a frenzy of psychosexual mania.
"In college, I remember reading Men, Women, and Chainsaws [by Carol J. Clover, 1992], which is a seminal bit of slasher gender theory about the pretty obvious weird Freudian shit we're reading into those movies, where there's the masculine killer chasing the scantily clad victim, and then you have the Final Girl, who can kind of be both at the same time. There's a phrase in the movie, that I put in there, that I think sums it up in three words: "Strange mating ritual." There's clearly something intoxicating, culturally, in all of that iconography: the killer, the victim, and the shower curtain in between them, so to speak." (Jane Schoenbrun)
