Les Roches rouges
Rdeče skale
Bruno Dumont · France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Qatar, 2026 · 90 min
A playful adaptation of the story of Romeo and Juliet, set on the present-day French Riviera and featuring child actors. Set in the South of France, against the shimmering blue of the Mediterranean Sea, the film follows a group of children aged between five and seven. Seven-year-old Geo is the leader of a gang of friends who spend their summer daring one another to take reckless risks on the cliffs above the sea. The arrival of a rival group from the capital and Geo's encounter with the mysterious Eve set the stage for a ruthless duel in which innocence and cruelty become intertwined, in a summer that will leave an indelible mark on them all.
"I've made very varied films and this time I aimed to do something simpler, perhaps more authentic. I wanted to return to something primary, where everything begins. We live in a world where culture is so transformed, where things have become very complicated. So, the idea of centering the story on children really appealed to me, because they are our beginning. It was a way of starting with a clean slate and rediscovering that original energy. Filming young children allowed me to work with something real, to return to the very origins." (Bruno Dumont)
