Virus patološke dobrote
Predrag Ličina · Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, 2026 · 99 min
The first regional science-fiction comedy about time travel, parodying the events of our age and envisaging a future in which kindness is a lethal virus. A snowy winter's night in Zagreb, 1983. A young teacher of Serbo-Croatian, Zorka, receives a surprise visit from a nude man claiming to be from the distant future - more specifically, from Belgrade in 2031. He explains that the world as they know it will crumble and that he believes he knows how to stop it. He has travelled back in time to prevent a pandemic of pathological kindness that will soon threaten humanity. At first, Zorka takes him for a fraud. But as the evening progresses and his predictions turn out to be correct, she begins to realise that there may be more truth to his words than she had previously imagined.
"I've wanted to make a science fiction film my whole life. It's my favorite genre. /.../ But how do you make science fiction here, in our circumstances? You have no money, nothing. Then, the first time I watched 12 Monkeys, Brad Pitt is talking to Bruce Willis in a psychiatric hospital. /.../ Then I thought, "Wait, I can come up with something similar. What if the whole thing were actually based on how much our society has changed over 50 years?" (Predrag Ličina)
