Moje poletje ljubezni
Paweł Pawlikowski · UK, 2004 · 87 min
Set in the English countryside during the summer, the film explores a friendship between two teenage girls, laced with game-playing, fantasy and first love. When Mona, from a small Yorkshire town, meets the wealthy and self-assured Tamsin on the surrounding moors, an intense friendship develops between them despite their different class backgrounds, driven above all by a desire to escape their everyday lives. They spend the summer at Tamsin's family estate, where their time together soon becomes entangled in a game of testing the boundaries of their relationship. Meanwhile, Mona's brother Phil, a former prisoner who converted to Christianity after serving his sentence, becomes an increasingly intrusive presence.
"Definitely it's about class. Class is so embedded you don't even have to draw attention to it. It's embedded in the psychology of the characters, therefore it's not obtrusive. It's another dramatic layer, one of the layers of the relationship." (Paweł Pawlikowski)
