Nežna, ljubeča skrb
Mike Leigh · UK, USA, 2026 · 107 min
The latest offering from the master of social realism, prolific British auteur Mike Leigh, is a story of empathy and mutual support. Best Film Award at San Sebastian 2026. Amy is an overextended, cheerful yet strained social worker dealing with a recent breakup. She moves in with her lifelong best friend and flatmate, Rosie, who is also a social worker. The two women decompress from the emotional toll of their jobs - managing troubled clients, budget cuts and a decaying social safety net - by cracking jokes and leaning on each other. Amy remains closely tied to her elderly parents, whose long-term, loving marriage is upended when her father begins to develop early-onset dementia.
"We haven't stopped being human. The quality of life hasn't gone away just because we're in tough times - on the contrary, all the more reason to reflect positivity the way we can. Obviously, I hope that Tender Loving Care wouldn't be misunderstood as a piece of romantic escapism because it isn't. It's a hard look at realities, but it is about compassion, and compassion is as important in these times as many other times." (Mike Leigh)
